Matt Arnold, Esq.
Mr. Arnold is an experienced personal-injury litigator and native of Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Arnold has tried bench and jury trials in North Carolina's state and federal courts. Mr. Arnold's familiarity with federal court rules, procedures, and personal injury actions in federal court makes him uniquely suited to handle cases arising from water contamination at Camp Lejeune between 1953 and 1988. By law, the venue for the Camp Lejeune cases is Federal District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
At the outset of his legal career, Mr. Arnold defended insurance companies in personal injury matters. His claims defense practice has given him a unique perspective as to how to best advocate for clients in personal injury cases. The claims response and defense practice he undertook early in his career has proven invaluable in understanding the perspective of defense claims examiners and attorneys, and in formulating personal injury clients' administrative and legal claims in the best light. By law, Camp Lejeune water-contamination cases must begin with the filing of an administrative claim. Mr. Arnold has a wealth of experience defending administrative claims and, more recently, litigating administrative claims on behalf of clients. He is experienced at drafting and filing the necessary forms for clients with administrative claims like those involving the Camp Lejeune water-contamination cases, and communicating with and advocating on clients' behalf before administrative law judges and government attorneys and claims examiners.
Through his tireless advocacy on behalf of clients, Mr. Arnold has been recognized as a North Carolina Super Lawyer. He is also recognized as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
As one of the founding members of Arnold & Smith, PLLC, Mr. Arnold has overseen the development of the firm's personal injury practice. Under his supervision, the firm has obtained favorable results for clients in literally thousands of cases.
