Paul Tharp is an experienced trial and appellate attorney who has tried personal injury cases in both state and federal courts in North Carolina. In addition, Mr. Tharp has successfully litigated all manner of civil and criminal appeals before the North Carolina appellate courts and in the federal Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Tharp has written and published extensively regarding legal issues, including early Camp Lejeune water-contamination cases. In December 2010, Mr. Tharp published an article in North Carolina Lawyers Weekly regarding one woman's pursuit of justice after her ingestion of contaminated water at Camp Lejeune between 1980 and 1983 led to her contraction of lymphoma. Unfortunately, those early cases were eventually dismissed after various trial and appellate courts ruled that the claims were barred by the statute of limitations.
A new law has provided a window for persons sickened by contaminated water at Camp Lejeune to bring claims. The claims can be brought up until August 10, 2024, even if the exposure occurred years, even decades, ago. Mr. Tharp's experiences with administrative law claims and personal injury actions in federal court make him uniquely qualified to assist persons with filing the necessary forms to commence Camp Lejeune water-contamination claims and litigating matters from start to finish.
Mr. Tharp is a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Eastern, Middle, and Western Federal District Courts in North Carolina. All the Camp Lejeune water-contamination cases must be brought in United States Federal Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Mr. Tharp's wealth of experience working on behalf of clients in North Carolina's federal courts makes him uniquely suited to help persons who have been affected by contaminated water at Camp Lejeune.
